HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEMBER MEETING

MARCH 9, 2023

The Quail Valley Garden had a great, energetic member meeting.  With 61 folks in attendance, several of which were guests, the energy was high and the atmosphere inspiring and exciting.

Club announcements were numerous as the Club is very active right now with the introduction of new officers, and announcements about Caladium bulb sales, Spring Plant Sale plans, the upcoming May Member Luncheon, Yard of the Month Award winner, impending Scholarship announcements, Beautification projects, etc.

As is done at each monthly meeting, the Club’s “Graceful Giver” program collected items for the Fort Bend Women’s Center and the “Buttered Cupboard” program collected food items which will be donated to the Fort Bend East Human Needs Ministry.

The speaker, Martin Hagne, who is the Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, located in Lake Jackson, Texas, was both informative and entertaining and did a thorough job of educating members on the varieties of hummingbirds, their routines and their migration practices.  Mr. Hagne explained how hummingbird tracking is done, the proper way to manage hummingbird feeders and shared so much more with us.  His presentation was interactive; allowing and inviting questions along the way.

The monthly member meetings always start off with a social time where attendees are treated to coffee and a delicious assortment of breakfast bites that are prepared by a monthly hospitality team, and this month our hospitality team did a fabulous job, offering a smorgasbord of tasty breakfast treats.

The Quail Valley Garden Club invites anyone interested to attend a monthly meeting. Monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month (September through April).  If you are interested to know more about the Garden Club, want to meet the leadership team and some members, consider attending a meeting.  More information is available on our website:  www.QuailValleyGardenClub.org or you can drop us a note at:  TalkToUs@QuailValleyGardenClub.org
