2018 Backyard Garden Tour

Our 2018 Backyard Garden Tour will be held on Saturday April 21st from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm

(Rain Date: Saturday April 28th)

The Quail Valley Garden Club is hosting it 11th Annual Backyard Garden Tour presenting four beautiful breath-taking back yards. Begin your tour at the club's community Tee Garden across from the City Centre at 2880 La Quinta Dr. The Tee Garden was established in 2015 as the Quail Valley Garden Club's Community Beautification Project. Pick up you tour reference guide and map at the Tee Garden. After touring the amazing gardens, join friends and neighbors at the Bluebonnet Grille to enjoy 10% off with your 2018 Garden Tour booklet.

Tickets are $15.00 and will be available the day of the tour at the Quail Valley Tee Garden directly across from the City Centre at 2880 La Quinta Dr. Advance Tickets are available online below.

Club Photos

Group Photo Reminder; Immediately following the May 10th Luncheon at Qual Valley Centre, we will walk across the street to the Tee Garden for a group photo that will be used as the back cover to the 2018-2019 Yearbook.

Individual Photos for Yearbook:

If you want a new photo for the 2018-19 Yearbook, Rose Ann Acosta and Linda Holder will be available at the April 12th meeting to take individual yearbook photos that you will be able to view and approve.  Or you can submit a photo you already have.

If you want a family member of friend to take a new photo of you with your phone, please use the SQUARE option (if you have it), so it will not need further editing.Then e-mail it to Linda Holder -   LinHolder@gmail.com before May 31st.  Please put NEW PHOTO and your name in the subject line.

Presented by: Don Johnson, a Master Gardener. Don is a Master Gardener and Naturalist and an active participant in keeping our Quail Valley community appealing. He will speak on creating a natural balance between attracting wildlife and controlling pests in our yards.

Horticulture:  Members bring specimens from their yards to promote and share our love of gardening.

Recycle Swap Table:   Bring items that need a new home such as plants, cuttings, pots, gardening materials, magazines and catalogs.  If possible, label your plants.  At the conclusion of the meeting, it will be announced that the swap table is open. Be sure to take home any leftover items.    

Coffee Mugs:  Bring your favorite coffee mug to promote conservation. 

Labels for Education:  Drop off Campbell Soup labels and box tops in the jar at the entrance table.

Froberg's Farms and Joseph's Nursery followed by a BBQ lunch at Joe's in Alvin.

Meet at the Recreation Center at 9am, departure at 9:15 am

The trip will include a visit to Froberg Farms to pick strawberries followed by a visit to Joseph's Nursery and lunch at Joe's Bar-B-Q in Alvin

Bring $5 for the driver to cover gas

50/50 Drawing: Tickets are $2. for three tickets or $1. for single ticket. The drawing will be a the end of the meeting, with the winner receiving 50% and the club receiving the other 50%.

Be sure you have the correct amount for tickets you purchase since it's difficult to have change for large bills.

John Panzarella will be discussing his favorite varieties of citrus. What varieties grow well in our area, which are cold resistant and which are not. He will discuss the type of soil needed for planting in the ground and in pots. Since fertilization is important, he will talk about a fertilization schedule, how much and when.. He will also speak about root stock and root stock selections followed by a question and answer session.
